need a writer to collaborate on a comic

  1. What you need to know about ME

I’m an artist. I’m about to turn 35.
I do oil painting, I have sold my art at galleries in the past.

I could detail my experience, background, etc- but let’s cut to the chase
and just look at some of my relevant work:

    http://leocharre.com/art/drawings

    Some of my strenghts:

    • I know a lot of materials. Watercolor, ink, pencil, oil, acylic, graphic markers,
      computers.

    • I’ve worked for the video game industry- I’ve worked doing websites- coding
security and document manageme- anyway.. I’m actually a fledgeling unix hacker.

    • I have a large online portfolio of my gpl wor- but that’s irrelevant. The point is,
I know a rainbow of strange shit.
  2. Who YOU might be

I am looking for sommeone who is interested in writing a piece- the dialogue-
the story- make heavy suggestions about what you want to see where.
Tell me things like, in this cell- we need a closeup of character X.

    You, ideally:

    • You actually own some Serpieri, Manara, Enki Bilal, Heavy Metal magazines.
If you don’t have any of these within a room’s distance away- you can’t seriously
      be into this.

    • Be closeby so we can discuss this further. I am living a mile north of the DC border.
    • Actually have the time to set aside to work on this.
    • I don’t care how old you are, if you’re a man, woman, gay, in a wheelchair, or
republican. I will work with someone because of what they are willing to
      bring to the table.
You should probably be at least in your late twenties- and you should probably
not be blind- but- hey- I won’t be asking you to highlight the major points of
existentialism or do the illustrations. Your call.

    • You can be a monk for all I care- Just be warned we will undoubtedly be meeting
up at my place so you can see what I do- and my place is completely covered in
cigarette ashes and there are a million drawings of naked women all over the
walls. Not for the weak of heart.

    • Maybe you love comics, you’ll storyboarded the work- but you haven’t developed
the skills to visually carry through- that’s where I come in.

I can draw a variety of things. What I don’t have is the concept… Example situation:
That is, if somebody tells me- “now, here, is a scene where Joseph wakes up and makes coffee”- that’s useless to me.
I need a writer to have a concept of what they want to see on the page.
Such as– ( for the wake up and coffee example)- you see Joseph yawning here, a closeup of the mouth- Next, we see him walking into the kitchen. Next, a closeup of the coffee cup from below on a table.. Etc.
This means the kind of writer I need is someone very familiar with what they like and don’t like- and likely.. has a wide range of experience with material. Looking at it, reading- whatever.

You have to be very involved in the work. You have to come up with a good idea of what’s going to be show that happens. We can discuss it- then I can sketch an outline of what’s where and how, after that, the work on a page can begin.

I’d like you to work with me not just to create this, but what we do with it
    later (See WHY).

  3. WHAT we will be doing

I want to do a sex like comic- such as something that Serpieri did with Druuna, or
Milo Manara did with his work- etc.
I draw anatomy pretty well- I want to make use of this. Everything I post for
sale pinup type- sells immediately. It would be fun to have something of this
    other sort, around.
I need a writer to come up with idea, possibly a character, etc. Who knows.

After we determine what to do with the work to make money- we will figure out
how to split the profit. I am thinking we would share copyright to the work we
    produced- therefore 50/50.
This is stuff we can talk about more- of course.

I am aiming to do a story that will be 5 to 6 pages- yeah- small. That’s a start to get it published somewhere like Heavy Metal magazine, etc.
*Can you* tell a story in that few pages?

  4. WHY do this

I want to get the work published, I want to show off my skills- improve my
skills- and make a little money at it.

We can think up how we would go about getting this work into Heavy Metal,
Kiss Comix (dunno if they still publish), etc?

Worst case scenario, I will print this in black and white with a xerox machine
and sell them for a 1.25 online. I’m serious.

  5. REFERENCE material for work I admire:

    • Serpieri/druuna
